  • Visit Spectrios Institute for Low Vision Online!

  •             This company may be small in size, but their service to the community is overwhelmingly incredible.  This team of fifteen individuals improves the quality of people’s lives everyday.  They serve people who experience low vision or permanent vision loss.  For many with vision loss the desire to give up might come easily, but Spectrios Institute for Low Vision encourages them to persevere through the challenges.  Not only do they provide hope, the team at Spectrios Institute works one-on-one with each patient to improve their ability to accomplish everyday tasks.  Something like reading the newspaper can go from impossible to become a daily enjoyment with the help of the clinical team’s coaching and inspiration.

Since 1986, Spectrios Institute for Low Vision has been adding to their extensive list of programs and services.  A few of their programs at specifically for children: Seeing is Believing and a summer camp.  Both help promote the care for low vision students so that they can stay competitive in the classroom and learn how to address day-to-day challenges as they grow up with vision loss.  Within their actual office, the yellow house, they have a technology lab that displays the wide variety of low vision aids available to patients.  They also have teamed up with Marionjoy-Rehabilitation to develop a driving program for individuals who need state-approved telescopic glasses. Can’t get out of the house?  Spectrios Institute has an outreach program that will send help out to you.

This company truly has a heart for serving individuals with low vision.  Their Executive Director, Dr. Williams, makes sure the people are always the focus and motivation.  While Spectrios Institute works mostly with grants and donations, they promise to never turn a person away.  Caring for the individuals and community is the core of this company.  Make sure to keep your eye out for their yellow house – it’s filled with people doing incredible things.
