Our September Featured Member of the Month is Dr. Eva Chatman, a family medicine physician with DuPage Medical Group (DMG).
Dr Chatman has been practicing medicine for seven years, but her road to becoming a doctor has not been a common one. After graduating from medical school in 2011, Dr. Chatman completed a three-year residency program at Scott Air Force Base which, in partnership with St. Louis University, is the only fully-integrated family residency program in the Air Force and includes both community and military-based training. Following her residency, Dr. Chatman was stationed at Shaw Air Force Base in South Carolina where she served for four years.
In January of 2016, Dr. Chatman was deployed to Africa, where she worked for eight months in Uganda. There, she and her medic were responsible for providing care for 250 soldiers, not only for military-specific situations, but also conditions found in the region, like malaria.
Nearly a year ago, as Dr. Chatman and her husband expanded their family and their desire for stability and to be near relatives brought them back to the Midwest. Her husband, a professor of sociology, teaches at Waubonsee Community College. Dr. Chatman accepted a position with DuPage Medical Group (DMG), to provide care for adult and pediatric patients in their Wheaton medical office building located at 150 E. Willow Avenue.
Dr. Chatman chose DMG because she was drawn to their physician-led model, the close collaboration among physicians and the collegial environment. Dr. Chatman’s medical interests include preventive care, women’s health and helping patients manage chronic conditions including diabetes and hypertension. She enjoys working with families, becoming their trusted partner and building long relationships to support their healthcare needs as they age, from birth to retirement. Dr. Chatman prides herself in being open and honest with her patients as they discuss all available treatment options and develop a plan that takes into consideration each patient’s needs and empowers them to lead a healthier, happier life.To learn more about Dr. Chatman and DuPage Medical Group, visit dupagemedicalgroup.com.
