“Ring, Sing in the Springtime” is a concert combining the choral group the Village Voices of Downers Grove and the bell choirs of St. Matthew United Church of Christ. The concert is on Sunday, April 22 at 7pm. The Village Voices are under the direction of Marilyn Wilgocki and accompanied by Kevin Wong. The Chancel Ringers, the IntergeneRingers and the Mini-Me Ringers of St. Matthew are directed by KC Congdon.
There will be music to entertain everyone during the evening’s performance. Selections range from contemporary to spiritual to jazz to show tunes. Each musical group will perform separately in addition to a combined finale that will be accompanied by both Marilyn Wilgocki and Kevin Wong on the piano, with KC Congdon directing.
The Village Voices is comprised of twenty-nine enthusiastic performers. The group rehearses in Downers Grove but draws its members from twelve west and southern suburbs.
The St. Matthew bell choirs are comprised of long-time bell ringers who perform with the Chancel Ringers to intermediate and beginning ringers of the IntergeneRingers. The Mini-Me Ringers are children and grandchildren of ringers in the established bell choirs.
Tickets are $8 and may be purchased in advance through the church office or at the door on the night of the concert.
